Taking cues from a Tinashe record or more specifically—in sound and subject matter—Selena Gomez’s“Good For You,” Joella Deville presents an ode to giving yourself fully to a worthy partner rather than the dude who demands his dinner on time. While there are some similarities in content, Deville stands apart from her contemporaries in the richness of her voice, which exudes the depth and maturity missing in a lot of today’s Pop/R&B crossovers.
